Understanding Your Results

Your Kua number (卦數), also known as Ming Gua, is a fundamental concept in feng shui that reveals your personal energy pattern. Based on your birth year and gender, it determines your favorable and unfavorable directions for various life activities.

The Kua number system divides people into two groups - East Group and West Group - each with four favorable and four unfavorable directions. Understanding your Kua number helps you:

  • Position your bed, desk, and stove optimally
  • Choose the best facing direction for important activities
  • Select favorable locations for your home or office
  • Enhance specific areas of your life through directional energy

How to Calculate Your Kua Number

For Males Born Before 2000:

  1. Add the last two digits of your birth year
  2. If the result is two digits, add them together again
  3. Subtract from 10

Example: Born 1985 → 8+5=13 → 1+3=4 → 10-4=6 (Kua 6)

For Males Born After 2000:

  1. Add the last two digits of your birth year
  2. If the result is two digits, add them together again
  3. Subtract from 9

Example: Born 2005 → 0+5=5 → 9-5=4 (Kua 4)

For Females Born Before 2000:

  1. Add the last two digits of your birth year
  2. If the result is two digits, add them together again
  3. Add 5
  4. If the result is two digits, add them together again

Example: Born 1990 → 9+0=9 → 9+5=14 → 1+4=5 (Kua 5→8)

For Females Born After 2000:

  1. Add the last two digits of your birth year
  2. If the result is two digits, add them together again
  3. Add 6
  4. If the result is two digits, add them together again

Example: Born 2003 → 0+3=3 → 3+6=9 (Kua 9)

Note: Kua 5 doesn't exist. Males with Kua 5 become Kua 2, females become Kua 8.
